My name is Melinda Massey. I am writing this story for my great niece and nephew. I feel I must be a voice for them.
A little background: On February 4th, 2012, my niece, Ashley Ramsey entrusted a best friend (someone she had known since school) with her children
while she went to work for the day. The friend left the
two children with her husband that afternoon and was supposed to pick up my niece from her job at 4 pm. Upon arriving back to the friend's home, Kisyn was asleep. My niece did not think anything of it at the time. It wasn't long till Kisyn awoke and came running out to the living room to his mommy. Crying and screaming for her. My niece picked him up and he was black and blue. His eyes were swollen and red, he had bruising all over his body and she dialed 911. The husband to her friend was trying to get the baby away from her the whole time she was on the phone with 911. (This was recorded). An ambulance arrived and rushed baby Kisyn to the Marion County Hospital ER. The doctor said he was near death due to the hemorrhaging
and also that he had a large amount of Benadryl in his system. I think he was trying to kill the baby. Everything was so chaotic.
Soon following, there were many visitors,
including the Sheriff's Department, DHS, and the best friend. Everyone was questioned and the statements
are in the investigation file. The
friend's husband was handcuffed but later released because his uncle is on the
Sheriff's Department and insisted he be released. There was never a formal arrest made.
we arrived back at home around 2:30 am.
Kayden was asleep in my arms and I had to wake her to put her pajamas
on. When I did, I saw a huge bruise on
the back portion of her upper thigh. I
told Ashley and my sister that I bet he did something to her too and that they
better take her to the doctor just in case.
The next day, Sunday, they came to my house in Perkinston to visit. My sister and I took Kayden with us to go see
our mother in the nursing home. On the
way there, Kayden just started talking about how she did not want to ever go
back to Tyler’s house and that he is mean.
My sister and I pulled over in a parking lot. I asked Kayden why she said that and she put
her arms up and acted like she was squeezing something – she said “That’s what
Tyler did to Kisyn” She also said he sat
on him and choked him. She was three at
the time. The next day, Monday, Ashley
and my sister, Elaine made Kayden an appointment with her pediatrician. The pediatrician examined Kayden and
immediately sent them to the Wesley Medical Center for a rape kit
examination. We were there for about 6
hours. They took pictures and did the
exam. It was very clear to all of us
that she had been molested. She had
bruising on her inner thighs and around her vagina. She was red and swollen. That packet of info was sent by private
courier to the state and was sealed for protection.

the justice system, especially the MS Bureau of Investigations.
steps were taken through the system, adjudication, counseling, home visits,
etc. We all kept wondering why an arrest
wasn't being made and were informed by the MS Bureau of Investigations that it
was their case now and they would handle it. Even the DA seemed confident that
things would go in the favor of an indictment.
Through months of waiting, we finally had a date to go before the Grand
Jury in Marion County. The investigator presented his evidence and we were told
they reviewed everything. Needless to
say, everyone there was a joke. There
was no justice served and no indictment.
No one was subpoenaed and the Grand Jury was less than grand. While one of the members said something like,
“that SOB needs to pay; there was another that stated it could have been
horseplay. We even received threatening
looks by two of the men as we were leaving.
and his family are very well known in this small community. They protect their own and make that very
well known. We have survived threatening
phone calls and they really think they can scare us into giving up...no
way! I would rather die fighting this
cause. There is so much more to this
story, interviews, and hard physical evidence, Doctor’s statements, DHS's
investigation, the counselors, etc. It
is only because he is part of that community and he is being protected by his
own, with many relatives and friends on the sheriff's department and in the
political circle there. There is also
lots of info on the corruption that has long gone on there. Marion County, MS…or better known as
